Does anyone have information or old photos of the 1945 Dodge 2 ton stake bed truck used by Clyde Ranch for hauling apples?

PS.. I have been to the museum and didn't find anything except a similar photo - as shown above.

No photos but.... any plans to restore or at least preserve the old gas station?? It looks as if it may come down at any time.

That thing has looked like that since I can remember in the fifties. I do wish the would at least sell apples out of it

Yuh probably wouldn't want to go into that building under any circumstances. It is going to fall down someday soon.

The truck today is in Wrightwood and is in good condition - starts right up.

Here's the truck when pulled from the shed in 1998 and the Crews bought it

Apple Truck details:

The truck remains in basically original condition and is used for parades, as a music stage and a Drive-In Movie Screen at times.

Hahahaha, love the movie drive-in. You might want to check with town resident Ed Thomas, he might have snapshots of the truck being used on the ranch, since he moved cattle there in the 60s.

I found no information that Ed Thomas had anything to do with the Clyde Ranch or cattle. He was way too busy with other jobs.

The Blue Cut Fire devastation at Clyde Ranch has a lot of history buffs sick to their stomachs.
One relic that was not in the barn is the original 1945 Clyde Ranch apple truck - it remains in Wrightwood and is in good running condition.

So glad the old truck wasn't still in the barn. Thanks for saving it several years ago! The devastation at the Clyde Ranch is truly heartbreaking. An important piece of Wrightwood's history is gone, probably forever. Glad the old house was saved, and the little gas station. Sorry for all the folks that lost their homes in this fire. This was a tragic event.

I noticed some plywood on the roof of the gas/water station. I have just compiled a history of the Clyde families, my aunts memories of visiting the ranch, and a history of the ranch. Also included are some pictures I took in 2015 when I visited the ranch. So heartbroken that so much was destroyed. With some fire retardant could have been dropped over those buildings and the apple orchard. Anyone interested in my history, contact me at meinaz@aol.com for more information. No, this is not a sales pitch. I just want to share the information I have with everyone. Wish I could be there to help pick up the pieces of history.

The other home situated west of Clyde's Ranch (entered from another area/road, I think family, did it get burned too? Is the only home standing the red house and old gas station, no others in that area?

From information I've been sent, the Johnson house is still there. The red house and the water station are still at the Clyde Ranch. That's all. The garage, blacksmith shop, apple packing barn and contents, and sadly the Earp cabin are gone. The apple orchard is badly damaged. This is my 2gr grandma's sister's ranch, Priscilla & Almon Clyde.

I donated a copy of the Clyde families and the Clyde ranch to the WW Historical Museum. It's not very pretty -- spiral binding. A quick print job at the local Kinko's. Wanted to get it in the museum's library ASAP.
