I meant filter.   I think!  ??? So what is the difference between a uv filter and a polarizing one? Do you have any pictures or know where there are examples of the same scene with different filters? I would love to see what those pictures of yours would have looked like w/o a filter.
Thanks!

Thanks Robbins Nest, coming from you that means alot!

Here is a site that talks about UV filters and shows samples:
http://www.cs.mtu.edu/~shene/DigiCam/User-Guide/filter/filter-UV.html

Ultraviolet (UV) Filters - Absorbs the ultraviolet rays which often makes outdoor photographs hazy and indistinct. A multi-purpose fine-weather filter for color as well as black and white photography.

A UV (or Protector or Skylight) filter should be left on your lens at all times.  Not only does it protect your lens from scratches, it protects the threads on your lens when you attach other filters.

Thanks for the link and the advice! I will get one to protect the threads for sure. Just have no idea which one is for what. Especially after looking at the large selection in the second example.
I thought there was just one filter for all cameras!!! ::)

The only difference I see in the first example is that she is smiling in the second pic. Like one of those before and after face lift adds.

In the next example of the field, it's hard to see any difference because they are so small. (I enlarged them and still can't tell which one is supposed to look good.) ???
Anyway I thought it was a simple topic. I can see it will take a bit of research on my part.
Thanks for the nudge!

(Toolman will probably shovel all of the snow from his driveway into the street and just wait.  ;D  )

Now, would I do that.....  ::)

This baby tosses that stuff 60 feet or better. This was last year after taking delivery of my new Ariens.....and people said because I bought it we wouldn't have snow....maybe it was my fault.... :-\ but it's a blast. The heated handgrips are cool too.

This was what I saw in front of Toolman's house shortly before his front gates were open.

You guys take some incredible pictures.  Here's a few of mine.

I spent my summer tearing down the two story and building this place.  It's not eye appealing, but it's weather proof.  I only put one sliding window on this side 'south' due to extremely high winds.   It also has a metal roof and flashing, with stucco under the eves for fire prevention.  I'm pretty proud of it.  Monday night will be the first night I spend in the place!

You can see my double thick exterior wall in the window of this pic :)

The dirt road continues to the top of Tenhi Mt, cell towers and a cable tv head end.   I didn't make to the top on the snomo,, 8ft drifts stopped me.  I'll try it again today.

This is my driveway. Big Pines can be seen on the very left edge of this pic

The road up, and the freeway.

I was lucky to have the snomos here. (heated hand grips, Toolman)  It was the only way up for two days.  I only had to walk up once. The 12v wind generator in the background and 3 others not pictured continuously charge and run all my radio equipment, and the golf cart

more info on that is at http://www.hydrogenappliances.com

Nice shots peeps

Tumbles wishes she could play in the snow too, but waking up to temps close to -20 (that's with wind chill) is keeping her indoors. :-\

Thanks for sharing these fantastic photos! I love airshows. I was in San Rafael that week working and we could hear the practice runs at the office. We had to just stop and wait for the jets to pass to continue conversation. I wanted so bad to leave work and go watch!
