I spent last week in the Eastern Sierras.  Did the Rush Creek trail loop from Silver Lake to Thousand Island Lake. Here are some of the photos.

Deadhead, how many miles did you cover per day?  That looks like one fantastic trip.  Thanks for all the photos.  When did the GPS come in handy during the trip?

Day 1 -  Start at Silver lake ( part of the June Lake loop at 7200 ft) hike to 9400 ft and drop to Gem Lake at 9050 ft.  5 miles.

Day 2 -  Start at 9050ft at Gem and hike to 9800 and drop to Waugh Lake at 9500ft.  5 miles.

Day 3 -  Start at 9500 ft at Waugh hike to 10,200ft (Island Pass)and drop to 1000 Island Lake 9850. 5 miles

Day 4 -  GPS came in to play, no packs this day and no trail to follow.    Start at 9850 from 1000 Island Lake and hike to Glacier Pass (11,500 ft) just below Banner Peak.  Back to camp at 1000 Island.    5 miles

Day 5 -  Leave 1000 Island Lake (9850), drop to 9500 only to climb back up to 10,100 ft to an Unnamed Pass at Clark Lakes.  Spend the night at Clark Lake #2 (9960)  5 miles.

Day 6 -  Leave Clark Lake # 2 and hike to 10,100 ft and it's paydirt time.  Drop 2900 feet in 5 miles through Spooky Meadow back to Silver Lake at 7200 feet.

Total trip distance 30 miles.  60 pound packs.

If any of you think you might like to try this hike, it should be pointed out that altitudes in the range of 10,000  ft and above are extremely difficult, if not impossible, for anyone with any type of respiratory problems - Asthma - bronchitics - COPD - etc.
