I use to fool around with Macro years ago with ring adaptors and waste an awful lot of 35mm film. I recently upgraded my old Canon G-3 through the Canon upgrade system to a G-9. Too bad they don't offer upgrades for SLR's
I walked past our blooming cherry tree and heard the swarm and thought I'd try out the Macro setting with the G-9 on complete Auto settings and see what I'd get.
I was pleasently surprised with the results from a simple pocket cam. Even though you can set white balance manualy I was equally impressed with the AWB setting.
It's no sport's or high speed action camera, but I think I'll enjoy it's features for hikes and what it was intended for, simplicity.
