Faultline Ridge

Sounds too much like "Faultline Terrain Park" at Mountain High. ;)

I like Swarthout Ridge, after all, we are in the Swarthout Valley.
No, I don't know where that name came from.

well, i've decided to go with San Andreas Ridge--kudos to Freighthauler for this one.  a Google search comes up with nothing that goes by that name.  it's very descriptive--the fault made that ridge.  Swarthout already has a namesake.  some folks think that Wrightwood Ridge might be confusing with Wright Mtn. in the area.  i can't think of any negatives in the name San Andreas Ridge.

i'll send the application this week.  they say it might take six months before i hear back from them.

Did anyone noticed that I said I flew at 52,000 above the area, and nobody thought that was odd??

I was on Google earth...lol

where does Richter Ridge come from?

It runs adjacent to, and was created by the San Andreas fault. We live in a valley created by tectonic forces, and Richter has been overlooked and his contributions to seismology downplayed. He should have something along the fault named after him.

That would be neat Funky, but being old school I would love to have a P-51 Mustang or a Corsiar

got a letter from USGS regarding that name change

I received a letter from the USGS stating that they received my request and that they are "preparing a case brief for your proposal and place it on the US Board's next Quarterly Review List for consideration by all interested parties."

They also say that it will be months before I hear back from them.  I am glad that something is happening...

Update: Aug 16, 2007
San Andreas Ridge name moves forward.

The USGS has contacted the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors and asked for a county resolution on naming the ridge. San Bernardino County Supervisor Mitzelfelt's office is researching the request.
