Volunteers needed at Vincent Gap to help with Angeles Crest 100 mile race September 15-16, 2007.
The Angeles Crest 100 mile foot race starts in Wrightwood at 5 am on Saturday September 15. Runners follow trails including the Pacific Crest trail and Mt. Baden-Powell for 100 miles. The race concludes near the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Sunday September 16. There are 14 checkpoints between Wrightwood and Pasadena. Each checkpoint is staffed with volunteers to provide food and refreshments and record the times and runner number as each runner arrives at each checkpoint and then leaves for the next checkpoint. These times provide the essential information so race search and rescue personnel know when to expect each runner at the next checkpoint.
Volunteers are needed to help at the Vincent Gap Checkpoint (race mile 13.2) on Saturday September 15 from 6:00 am to 9:30 am. The rewards for each volunteer include the gratitude of each of the more than 100 runners and their families as well as an official Angeles Crest 100 t-shirt.
