at the rodeo area at glen helen, the telephone poles were burning, wierd sight to see.

nothing on the ground seemed to be burning.

Wow! We were coming south from Apple Valley. I was on Bear Valley and decided to avoid the southbound 15 because of what I thought was Las Vegas traffic heading home. Guess I was wrong about the cause... awfully glad we took the surface roads home.

What a day...
Going to Arcadia this AM, I counted 4 total tractor trailer overturns. And then returning, fires at the 15/215 interchange. CHP was having a car towed away that had appearantly totally burned. Is this how the fire started? I couldn't tell from the dispatches.

Just heard there is a new fire in Ontario - is this an extension of the Devore fires, or an entirely new fire?  Honestly, this is just about the worst situation I have ever seen!  I have a relative packing to evacuate in Irvine - Irvine for heavens sake!

Staying home from work sounds good but on paper, green paper,  it looks bad!
Kinda of kidding, I like my job but do not want to travel through a fire to get there.  I will rethink this one in the morning.

Surfer_Dude has the right idea.
Wait until the morning to see what is taking place. I'm sure the TV news crews will be all over it and on every morning news program.

The Ontario fire is located at Schaefer and Walker in the dairy farms.  The embers are igniting the haystacks.

I drove down to Rancho from WW this morning at 4:30 am.  No evidence of fires or delays.  The winds are still very strong with blowing dust.

Thanks for the update hermit! I have to travel down early myself. Yesterday after a delightful day at Victoria Gardens we sat for awhile on a closed freeway but made most of the way through side streets! BTW, the side street when you turn left, then right) on Sierra is now open and will take you to Glen Helen! WHOO HOO! However, yesterday there was a kind CHP that closed Glen Helen due to the fire. When we finally got back on the freeway we sat but then drove through the burning flames, It was a war zone on both sides of the roads! YIKES!

Careful out there!
