This shouldn't even be a question. The Federal government takes my tax dollars, as well as everyone elses', and has a responsibility to make decisions in the Public Interest, not for the private sector.
What happened to the spectrum that was freed up when broadcast television converted from analog to digital? The pitch at that time was to allow companies to use the "white space" between channels for additional programming and services.
Unfortunately this may be another example of government golden rule:
