ALL photos published or shared by an organization or affiliate should have location (as well as photographer, or a notation by someone saying permission to share from photographer) noted. Period. Not just because accuracy matters (propaganda, anyone?), but people are using these to share with government agencies as proof as to why Wrightwood needs x,y,z help. Plenty of residents have their own photos, but their arguments are greatly diminished when the worst examples could be shown to not be local. (replying to a post no longer here...)

Who can we address our concerns to? Maybe if they get flooded with emails it might help.

I guess we're about to prove that "a picture IS worth a thousand words."  I don't think we need some sweeping new rules here as to posting pictures. I leave that decision to our moderators.  I do agree an annotation of  the location and date of photos would be helpful. A requirement for permission of the photographer to cross-post would be considerate. Unless the photographer copyrighted the picture - it isn't necessary.

I don't think we're dealing with so-called 'fake news' here as it has come to be known in our recent election. But, gosh darn it.. if that dumpster wasn't in our side of the forest.. we should know that. cheryl o7o

There are just so many people that come up from down below when there is snow.  So many in fact that my Dad commented "They just wear out the snow"

The Big Pines Ranger Station Facebook Page posts information relative to all of the Angeles National Forest and the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument even if it isn't specific to just the Big Pines area, even available jobs even if they aren't for jobs right here in Big Pines, as do other Ranger Station or Forest Facebook Pages.  At times information from the San Bernardino National Forest is posted if it relates to the Lytle Creek area since they are just a stones throw over the hill.  Pictures are often shared across USFS - California, USFS - Region 5 and individual National Forests as well if it is relative to all Forests.  Specific locations of pictures that are used on the Big Pines Ranger Station Facebook Page, with permission by-the-way, can be obtained by requesting that information from the administrators of that page.

Here is some information on the two trash pictures displayed above, that seems to have everyone in an uproar about.  They were taken during Christmas Break at the Chilao Campground by a USFS employee.  Chilao is just 40 to 45 minutes up the road from Big Pines via Angeles Crest Highway (when open).  Both Big Pines and Chilao are a part of the Angeles National Forest and both are part of the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, kindred sisters you might say. At one time we were on different Districts of the Forest, but no longer now that we are both part of the National Monument. Their problems are ours and ours are theirs.

Thanks, Bob, you saved me a  :soap:
With all of the things that we need to be concerned about in this discussion, I CANNOT believe we are pickling fly specks out of pepper about whether Chilao is near enough to be close enough.

If our general side of the Angeles is too broad an area for people to care about then the admins of the "Big Pines Ranger Station, _Angeles National Forest_" might as well just leave out the Angeles National Forest and just report strictly about the VIS. Oh, but wait, that would be like complaining about trash in Wrightwood but not caring about the rest of the forest..

And what happens if I want to post a picture and I can't remember where I took it?  This is what happens when you fake rationality and give fake significance to a fake problem.  I can no longer fake concern over this fake mountain being made of a fake molehill. ;D

Just assume nothing on Facebook is really substantive and move on with your life.  I don't even participate in that cesspool.  Even before the election I was convinced that it, and the internet as a whole, is the cause of much of the strife we experience today.

There is something to be said about proximities and boundaries. After all, I've never really been interested in those that live off of Cardinal or Flume.  They aren't real Wrightwoodians.  After all they live in a completely different county than most of us. LOL

I'M KIDDING!!!

All of the discussion seems to be taking away the importance that we have a trash problem that needs to be dealt with.  Maybe the severity is different at different times in different locations, it should not take focus on the problem, that does exist.  I would not question motivation of someone posting a picture to display the problem.  It exists, along with other type problems we need to address, and we are with all the agencies we work with.

When you post a picture on social media, consider it not yours anymore.  Don't post something thinking it will be kept private, it won't.

Three trucks from Fenner were working on cleanup today.  Still not finished, but they sure do a great job.  BTW, I'm told that Mike (Mountain Hardware) and Pat (Wrightwood Market) had taken it upon themselves to go up and pickup truck loads of broken sleds.  Don't blame the merchants for selling them.  They go the extra mile to pick them up when their customers discard them.  :O)

Ya know... if you took away the snow.. the pictures of cars parked in the residential areas would look a lot like the Memorial Day weekend sales. Just sayin'.  Yes, yes.. there are more problems with snow players. cheryl o7o

Funny thing is, I don't recall Memorial Day weekend garage sale people telling property owners to F-off, and don't ever recall them damaging/peeing/playing/littering on private property.

Other than those few things, yes it's similar

When you have a garage sale, you are 'inviting' people to your house, and are home to meet them....

A couple of thoughts. 1)  Vonzip's Dad is really funny.  2) I'm not sure which of the problems the snow players bring with  them are the top priority for the WW community. Maybe it's all of them. 3) It looks like we're all in for a series of big storms. Maybe that will deter the snow players for this weekend. I'm betting it won't deter the skiers and snowboarders at M.H. .. unless M.H. closes down due to conditions.  So, good luck this weekend to WW and all of its visitors.  cheryl o7o

Almost like the good old days when Wrightwood used to get snow.  I remember chaining up all four wheels on the International scout and going out with my brother for a joy ride.  The snow was about 2 and half feet deep and there wasn't a soul around during our joy ride.
