Falls Fire - Lake Elsinore Aug 5, 2013

Falls Fire started August 5, 2013 on the Cleveland National Forest, Trabuco Ranger District. Current acreage is 1500. Mandatory evacuations for Lakeland Village, Decker Canyon and Rancho Capistrano residents. Ortega Highway is closed to non-residents. Closures are at Grand Ave in Lake Elsinore and Antionio Parkway in Orange County.

There's always been people who have questioned the value of using DC10's for wildland firefighting.
The incredible photo below clearly demonstrates the value of this important tool firefighters are now using. Without it yesterday the outcome of the Falls fire would have been dramatically different.

Update 8/6/2013 9:00 a.m.: Fire is 1416 acres and 20% contained. USFS (CNF) and CAL FIRE remain in unified command for this incident. The fire information center has transitioned to the CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department Public Affairs Bureau.
