The LOFT presents "WRIGHTWOOD IN FOCUS!" on Saturday, July 5, 2014
Perhaps beginning with Aldous Huxley, creative arts have been an integral part of the fabric of Wrightwood. He once said, "There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception." Perceptions of Wrightwood lie at the heart of the first annual "Wrightwood in Focus!" an art exhibition presented by
The Loft and scheduled for Saturday, July 5, 2014, 12:00 Noon to 5:00pm. Located in the Big Horn Building (above The Village Grind) at 6020 Park Avenue in Wrightwood,
The Loft is a collaborative of local artists. Local musicians will also be performing at the Village Grind.
In this inaugural exhibition, artists' original work will reflect their perceptions of what makes Wrightwood an inspiring place to live and play. For example, water color painting "Baby Bear" & graphite drawing "Racoons" by Gayle Dowling portray local wildlife, pastel painting "9,000 feet" by Joan McCandless captures an ancient Limber Pine en-route to the Baden-Powell summit, jewelry by Suzi McKinney includes local gemstones, graphite drawings by Pat Farrell portray local birds,and new carvings by Gary Thornhill are made from local wood, to name a few. The Loft members include Gayle Dowling, Ric Rice, Gary Thornhill, Elaine Enge, Suzie McKinney, Jan Vondra, Joan McCandless & Katherine Allen.
Invited artists include Pat Farrell, Pat Cates, Catherine Ruane, Christina Birrer, George Keene & Gary Sizemore.
The exhibition will be on display during the month of July. Please join us on July 5th anytime from 12:00noon - 5:00pm to celebrate "Wrightwood in Focus!"
