I can see the homes of a few folks I know  burning in the video.  Yesterday was the worst possible time to have a fire.

People can forget that fuel moistures are still extraordinarily low in the Eastern Sierra (and right here in Wrightwood).  It only takes a source of ignition and it's off to the races.  Looks almost like the footprint of the Inyo Complex a few years back.  Tragic for the forty homes destroyed.  Ironically, each of those homes has been paying their CalFire "Fire Prevention Fee" each year.

My friends who are ski instructors at Mammoth have a brush clearing business to keep them busy in the summer time. 

The homes they did fire prevention work at in Swall survived.  I thought that was cool and speaks volumes for maintaining defensible space.
