Advisory: Mt Baldy - Search continues for missing hiker

DATE/TIME: February 10, 2015/7:27 a.m.
INCIDENT: Missing/Overdue Hikers
LOCATION: Mt. Baldy
VICTIM(S): Two Adult males ages 70 and 73 of Chino Hills

SUMMARY:
On Monday, February 10, 2015, at 7:27 p.m., deputies from the Fontana Sheriff's Station responded to Mt. Baldy following the report of two missing/over due hikers. Deputies were advised by family members that the two men left Chino Hills Monday morning at approximately 5:00 a.m., for a day hike in Mt Baldy and were expected to return between 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. When they did not return home family contacted the Sheriff's Department. Sheriffs helicopter also responded and conducted an aerial search. The K9 Bloodhound Dare from Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded during the night and searched for the hikers.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., one of the hikers, 70 year old male, was able to walk out and was located. He was found to be in good condition. He informed deputies that he and his brother had gotten separated yesterday near the San Antonio Falls.

Search and Rescue Members are continuing to search. Search and Rescue Teams are on the ground checking trails in the area. The area they are searching on the south side of Devil's Backbone of Mt. Winds are expected to reach 45 - 50 miles an hour today.

Advisory: UPDATE - Mt Baldy -Second hiker, Kil Pyung Auh, has been located and reunited with his family

VICTIM(S): Heun Pyung Auh, age 70, of Chino Hills - located
Kil Pyung Auh, age 72, of Chino Hills

SUMMARY:
UPDATE - 12:45 p.m.
Sheriff's Aviation has located the second hiker, Kil Pyung Auh, and reunited him with his family.
Sheriff's Aviation rescue ship responded to the area of Good Canyon, west of San Antonio Falls, and conducted a hoist rescue of Kil Pyung Auh. Mr. Auh was reunited with his family and will be taken by family to a local area hospital for an examination. Mr. Auh was slightly dehydrated and fatigued.
