Could be. If they're doing the standard hybrid fiber/cable system, there will still be coax in the system, and the coax can leak.

What there won't be is hardline with ring cracks, the main source of "signal egress."

Hopefully, they'll clean up a lot of abandoned, unterminated drops.

The big push to fiber for cable companies is the simple fact that it's very hard to meet FCC "signal egress" requirements with cable. It's nearly impossible without intensive maintenance, especially in areas with big temperature swings.

Once they made the jump to fiber, they figured out that they can deliver more services over fiber than with a pure coax network.

So fiber is cheaper and more profitable.

That said, Charter is still a cable company.

Cool. Whether there's competiion or just 1 company offering broadband, i dont need to know how the sausage is made, i just need the sausage asap!

Until then i have to just imagine a day when i can watch netflix while downloading an app update to my fone!

Yep! I've been having the same issue for over a month. Sometimes it works, other times it times out (using Chrome and Edge on my laptop). Today...it's working!!!
