Where do we stand date wise for section 3 now?

I was wondering the same and called on Thurs.  I was told they have been in sect 3 getting things set but I have not seen them anywhere in Sect 3.  It still shows the 15 of Feb on the site but I think it will change.

I learned a couple of things when I was running a hosting company for a living.

1) The "Firm Order Commitment" date is never "the date."  Historically, when I ordered a circuit, I scheduled a vacation day on the date they promised.  Sometimes, things happened early, and sometimes, very early, but never on the date.

2) Things can go from looking very far away, to "done, ready to go" all at once.

I'm rooting for everyone in section 3, because section 4 follows, and then the section that should have been section 1.  :-)

All of this talk about section 3 makes me wonder about section 2.  We are there and have not had ours installed yet.

Probably best to ask UIA directly, either by E-Mail or call the office.

It's probably something simple.

They've mentioned "fiber@uia.net" before.

From what I've gleaned from here, they're working on section 3.  I gather from earlier posts that there are a lot of splices and each has to be tested.  The moment everything is good, they'll start scheduling installations.

If you do contact them, please report back here.  I'm suspect they're focused on their build-out, and that's why we aren't seeing much from them here.

It should. It's just a box you connect to the internet with like any other box (Apple TV, etc). Are you set up to power your ONT, router, Ooma box, and cordless phones phones if the electricity goes out (if you want phone service when electricity goes down)?

No, I'm not but having Charter, UIA and Verizon seems ridiculous.

For what it's worth, I "pulled the plug" on cable a couple of years ago.  What I get comes through Netflix or Amazon Prime.  I'd use SlingTV or DirectTV now if Frontier's bandwidth was better (Netflix and Amazon have big enough buffers that most of their stuff works most of the time without buffering).

I have a "stick" that plugs into an HDMI port and runs Windows 10 for those things that only stream through a browser -- KABC, KTLA, KCBS and KCAL stream their news, so that works great.  The computer "stick" was $90 from Amazon.

My phone is my cell.  Haven't had a wired phone for a long time.

Once I get "good" bandwidth, I'm going to talk to my cell provider about a network extender so cell coverage in our house will be rock solid.

I had the UIA installation done this past Monday and I'm pleased with the outcome.  But, (you knew it was coming), beware if you do not have the latest equipment relative to a 1Gb network port or your laptop does not have the latest wireless technology, you may not see the 800-900Mb/s or more speeds that some have posted.  Even using one browser over another could render significantly different speeds.  As an example, my Lenovo Y560 (yes, older equipment) using Chrome posted a slower speed (500-600) than Internet Explorer (700-800).  Even plug-ins/add-ins to the browser could affect the speed you see.

Thanks to Wes and his team for bringing fast internet to Wrightwood.

In addition, here's an article further elaborating some of what Wes previously touched on regarding access to poles.

We are in Section 5. I'm guessing whatever contract I signed so long ago isn't going to be valid by the time they get to me. I still want it (I think??) but it would be nice to get an update every once in a while. I know the weather we had hasn't helped, but it has been 'radio silent' like you said....

Yes.

I e-mailed and got some dates, section 3 still in work and something that sounds like my guesses on section 4 (with few poles) could go pretty fast, and maybe the JPA (SCE) is catching up on pole permits.

I know.  We're all impatient.  My Frontier DSL could be the worst connection I've ever seen.  It's not the speed, it's the latency.

(section 3 here)

All of wrightwood should have Charter internet now, I called them up and had 100mgb internet the next day for 39.99...
I also called about section 3 and asked if it would be worth it to go with Charter for now... she hinted it may be more than a month more... Anyways I'll switch back when it's time because for the same price I can get 1gb internet but until then I got to say this is pretty great!.

Hope this helps the struggle.  :P

Makes no difference to me.  I've dealt with Spectrum in the past, and do not wish to deal with them again.
