Wildman,

GREAT horse picture. I think horses are one of the most photogenic animals on the planet. I stop and take pics of horses all the time. Next to canines, equines are some of my favorite animals. Katie sure is pretty.

I sure miss not having a horse :(

They are special creatures.  We have nine on the property and each is different and an individual.  Welcome to come visit.  They always enjoy being groomed.

Careful, I just may take you up on that..

I love the smell and the process of brushing out a horse. It is quite the stress reliever.

Angelwolf,
First let me say that $300-$400 cameras will take great pictures and in most instances look just as well in emails and on web pages as the expensive bad boys. Many photos that I've posted on this website were taken with inexpensive digital cameras.

When you are serious about taking photos and want to print high quality photos that's where the difference in camera quality starts to shine. Having full control over shutter speeds, aperture, ISO settings, autofocus points and high-speed continuous shooting.

The Rebel is a great camera but it does not compare to the 20D and the extra speed is well worth the difference in price but you'll get a whole lot more camera in a 20D than in a Rebel.

As Wildman said I would highly recommend buying from Costco as their return policy is so good. If you happen to have problems you return it and get another one. If you buy it elsewhere and have a problem it must be taken to a Canon service center.

Looks like the current price from Costco is $1299 with a lens

Doesn't the Rebel have a plastic body and the 20D have a metal body, making it much more rugged. Wildman was telling me that his was accidently knocked off off of something and the only thing that happened to it was the battery case cracked. In the same type of fall, the Rebel probably would have been history.

my current camera is 5.o mp and cost about $700, I have never had a cheap camera.  I can do some manual stuff and change the fstops but can only go to f8 which is limiting me in my photography class.

ok im in for the big one....

did you get a telephoto lens too??

where did you get that?
can i use different lens or should i stay with the canon lenses...

how big is your card...  the guy recommended at least a 4 gig

I use Canon lenses.  They are both zoom.....100-400mm and 28-135mm.  I would like to get a wider wide angle someday.  The lenses are both stabilized and have auto focus if you choose to use it.    You can certainly buy a nonstabilized lens at a cheaper price.  Wrightwood has a number of other lenses...some much bigger then my long one.

I also got the two battery camera bottom and grip that really lets you shoot a long time.  Adds a nice feel and longer side grip also.

I have a 2 gb card.  I would buy 2 or three 2 gb cards.  If you corrupt a 4GB card....you could lose a lot of pictures.

I believe you can buy the remote triggering device from Canon.

Thanks for the info, where did you buy your lens'?  I know they don't sell them at Costco... and the cards?  I am going to do this this wkd...  Are all the lens zoom and auto focus or is that something special I need to look for?

This morning's sunrise... Four minutes after I took this and went into the house to put clothes on, the sky was totally grey.

This gives a new meaning to "nude photography"!  ;D

That is an incredible picture.  Never liked chickens but that chicken has such wonderful color!  All these pictures are so awesome.  I'm thrilled to be able to look at them.
