The coyote pup showed up on my patio today.  He seems real young and obviously hungry enough to stand five feet from me.  I felt like if I said "come here" he would have.  Instead I discourage him and told him to beat it.  He went about 10 feet away looked at me again to see if I was changing my mind. I told him to beat it again and he walked off down the hill.

I don't think I've seen the last of him

On animal documentaries they show them following larger carnivores for scraps.  I think it carries over to following people and things.  Here's one just casually following us down the road.  I don't think this is some kind of conditioning from people feeding it from cars.  Sorry for the horrible camera work.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3fj4kSxNi0

I've seen this fella around before.  He was thirsty today.

Apparently not the only time we've seen the baby bobcat.  After showing her this new photo my eagle-eyed wife spotted it in a pic from a couple posts above : https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/t31.0-8/11227972_1202932059722682_452739814485524709_o.jpg

The little blur in the lower right with hints of a striped leg is the kitten.

Great pic of the Bob-Kitten and the Owl!  What type of owl is that?  I have one in my yard that is very vocal.

We have a lot of Great Horned Owls in our area....as well as Barn Owls and some others.  Great Horned Owls are very vocal.

Loved these pics!  I found a dead owl in one of the corrals here. Broke my heart. I think it flew into the side of the barn and likely broke its neck. It was beautiful with a fairly large wing span and was white with some brown feathers. Anybody know what it was?   cheryl o7o

Sounds like it was a Barn Owl.  Doubt it flew into the barn.  Many raptors die when they eat a poisoned rat or squirrel.  They pretty much bleed to death internally and you will find them on the ground without any evidence of trauma.  Dogs....cats...anything that ingests the animal that has been poisoned will be affected.  Why I use the old fashioned rat traps and Havahart traps.
