I didn't count but I would guess maybe 25 or 30. Cathy did you happen to count or want to guess?

I was disappointed by the lack of forum members that attended.

I had to work, but the lady snake was there. Says she'll be getting one of those green helmets and vests. I sure do love women in uniform. ;)

Supposedly she's supposed to patrol our block with another CERT volunteer if disaster strikes. Is there a registry of where all the volunteers live? I'm not sure who the other volunteers on our block are. Might be good for people to know who to call on for quick help in an emergency.

Tell her to introduce herself. I'm the only one there from Phelan.

ChattyCathy made sure everyone knew we weren't related. ;D If that helps her find us.

Now Ken, we sat together, we went to lunch in your car together, and we both have the same last name!  I figured everyone would assume that we were married - and since you have a wife, I wanted to set things straight!

My guess would be 30 people.  I would have liked to have seen more forum members, and also more younger people.  I doubt that there was anyone under 30 present.

So Ken, have you done your homework yet?  I haven't.

I was going to do it tonight, but - do you remember when I talked to Phil Vondra about getting something going in Phelan? Well, I got a call this afternoon from the lady that's heading up the Phelan/Pinon Hills Disaster Preparedness Team and their meeting was tonight. So, no I haven't done it yet. :(

But how was that for an excuse?  ;D

If you were unable to come to last Saturday's class, you can join us the next 2 Saturdays and make-up the class you miss the next time the CERT Training is offered.

The class is the next 2 Saturdays, 9am to 4pm at the WW Community Center.

It would be nice to see a large number of Forum members attending.

I have my CERT certificate and I am much better prepared in case of a disaster.  CERT teaches you to be prepared in your own household and to be ready to help your neighbors and community.  As far as I know, there are around 80 CERT-trained community members in Wrightwood - but that won't be near enough to cover WW if there is a disaster.

I implore all of you to take the course the next time it is offered.  The skills you learn can be used in your everyday life and could even save a life - maybe your own family members!  This training is invaluable and is free!  For those of you who already have medical training/first aid training, it is much more than that.  People are needed of all walks of life.  I'd also like to see more young people take the course.

I'd love to take the class, but I'll probably have to retire first.  I have to work too many weekends....  Is there any chance the class could be offered on weekdays?  If I knew long enuf in advance (3 or 4 months), I could possibly request the days off.

Yes, I talked to Phil on Saturday and they are trying to arrange to have a CERT class during the week, besides another one on weekends.

Chatty-
Do you actually have your certificate in hand, or do you mean you passed the training?

I would like to take the class, but haven't been able to work it with my schedule. Does anyone know when the next class is being offered?

Interesting as the 1st class hasn't received their certificates yet.

The next date has not yet been announced but I'll see if I can get the information.
