It seems like Verizon has had plenty of connectivity & email issues for the past month or so.

I'm glad we use neither of those Verizon services.

I haven't had any problems for quite a while - knock on wood!
I have Verizon e-mail, (well, I use Outlook Express, but my address ends in verizon.net), and after reading the above posts, I sent myself a test e-mail about 1/2 hour ago.  Just heard the little "ding-dong", checked messages, and there are 5 new ones, including the one I sent myself.  So apparently it's working here.
I guess my squirrels are behaving themselves...... ;)
Or does Outlook Express have anything to do with it?

I use Outlook Express also.

SkierBob,

If you have your email downloaded through Outlook Express you cannot access your email through netmail.

Sure you can.. but once you download your mail to outlook it's no longer on the verizon.net server..   I also know the non express version has settings that allows your mail to remain on the server if you so desire.

I've never been able to access my e-mails from any computer other than this one (at my house).  The ONLY exception has been, if I have Outlook Express closed here, and I'm away, then I can access it thru netmail, but then it's only new ones that haven't gone into OE yet.  None of the old stuff is available.  I like a lot of features of OE, so to me it's no big deal.  Maybe if I travelled a lot, or something....

Rdnckgrl, I just live a couple blocks down from you, so it's strange that mine works, and yours doesn't.  Although I guess that's not uncommon with lots of power issues around here......

I just checked mine.    Ten pieces of mail.   All junk.   :'(   Nobody loves me.

I use OE also and have had no problems.

What's the "non-express" version?  How do you do that?  Computer dolt here - you would have to explain it in very simple terms, for me anyway........

The full version of Outlook comes with Microsoft Office which includes
Microsoft Access
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Outlook
Microsoft PowerPoint
Microsoft Word

I looked at express it has a similar option under tools, options, maintenance, but it's not quit worded the same way.. in express it says something about deleting new messages after 'x' number of days..

In Outlook it says delete messages from server after 'x' number of days..

The biggest convenience of webmail is the ability to send and receive mail from any PC with access to the web. However prefer  I Outlook when I'm at my own office, on my own PC.

Thanks, SkierBob.  I printed out your above message, and will check it out when I get a chance.  (I'm getting over a nasty cold and don't have enuf brain cells right now.....)  My e-mails don't delete automatically, I have to delete them.  Which I need to do a lot of - I have over 750 of them, that I "need to go back and read someday".  HeeHee.

Anyway, I appreciate the help.

Thanks for the info SkierBob.  I just changed my setting to allow me to view email in both OE and netmail.

If she has a router for a wireless network, that could be the culprit instead of the modem. In that case she should recycle power on the router by just pulling out its power cord, waiting 30-60 seconds, then replacing it. That's happened to us before.

Hello, I am at the WW Library and wanted to look here to see if anyone's DSL is still out!  No, I did not have a router installed, just the old Verizon Modem box that we got a few years back.  I purchased a new modem yesterday (first Verizon rep said Modem went bad) at BEstBuy which has a built in router in it. The reps at Verizon have yet to be able to rectify our problems with their troubleshooting.  I am not sure what to do, Verizon said they would telephone me back within 24 hours and then asked on a scale of 1 - 10, what number would I give them in recommending their service?????

Verizon technical support is pretty useless. More than once I've had a rep take me through a series of steps that don't work and then they tell me to get a new modem. I then call the main customer service number to find out that there is an outage in our area. No kidding, it's happened 3 times now.  :(

Since my DSL is working I'm guessing an outage is not your problem. Since they're calling you back that means they've bumped up your support to a senior engineer; hopefully they'll actually be able to help you. Good luck, it's so hard being without access.

I'd recommend Wrightwood's Internet service, but since you don't know yet where the problem lies I'd wait until Verizon's callback. If the problem is with your PC then a new service won't help yet.

Verizon's Gregg came out today and helped me get back on line. What a freakin' Nightmare...now I have someone trying to break into my PayPal account. Anyone know how I can change my IEP Address?
All this Internet Speed Verizon is selling...I guess I have been overpaying for the 700 mbps. I have been paying the $32.00 price per month for the faster speed of 3.0 gbps, but my little home set up modem could only go as fast as 700 mbps. I got connected to a person in ......INDIA--what the heck????  She had no clue, kept repeating herself and trying to sell me the latest Verizon product.  I would like get really clear as to who is paying for what up here in WW?  And..are there any other carriers for DSL?
Has anyone received a refund for overpaying to Verizon? If so, how much and how'd you rectify it?
