I know what John uses...and it's my dream camera, but you have captured the clarity he does, so tell me, please...digital? SLR? Canon? Nikon?

That's my dream camera. I have a poor woman's verions of that. But hey it works pretty darn good.

Nope, a Panasonic Lumix 5.0 mp with 12 optical zoom (Leica Lens). $590.00 Shot in full daylight about 10-12 feet from the squirrel. I think I took it in Marco mode. I did not crop or blow up in photoshop.

Thanks for the compliment, I was very happy with this shot.

AW, yes you should be! Leica is a name you can always depend on.

Yup, I am saving up for a camera simular to John's...but I won't be able to afford the top of the line, but a Rebel would be a nice start.

I will always keep my Sony FD cameras, because they are simple, convenient
and perfect for my eBay photo's...but they can't even compete with good ol' Canon.

Looks like what we call a hummingbird moth. The moth simulates the behavior and feeding patterns of the hummingbird.
I don't know the real name but they are beauties.

It's a:

White-lined Sphinx Hummingbird Moth

Hummingbirds do not have striped backs. They do not usually appear to be brown. They will not let you approach them to get a closer look. If you believe you saw a brown, striped hummingbird, you probably saw the perfect hummingbird look-a-like. Hummingbird moths have disappointed many people who believed that they were seeing their first hummingbird.

Although you may have to wait longer to see a hummingbird, hummingbird moths are very interesting in their own right. Unlike most moths, they will fly during daylight. You can see many of them at any time of day but evening is the most productive time to watch for hummingbird moths.

thats a neat Humming bird moth creature. dont moths and other creatures like that look nicer in a picture than smashed on your windsheild, and bumper!

Thanks for the nice photos Angelwolf, they are really great pictures. I saw one of those last summer and was going to ask if anyone else had seen one around here, but I forgot to post it. Yes I thought it was a hummingbird as it was almost the exact same size. The one I saw had some how got his tongue or proboscis stuck in one of our flowers and could not get loose. He struggled for about 10 minutes and had a fit if I tried to get close to him. Finally he was so tired that he allowed me to free him from the flower and then flew off. That was the first and only time I have seen one of those moths and let me tell you that it is one magnificant insect.
