I noticed this sub-catagory is for Flora and Fauna. What about the birds?

Fauna is all of the animal life of any particular region or time.

Wrightwood beat me to it. But I want to add that the part about about fowl anyway:

Fauna are animals, especially the animals of a particular region or period, considered as a group, for example, the fauna of Wrightwood.

A bird is an animal. A fowl is a particular sort of bird either 1) in the order Galliformes such as a chicken or quail or 2)  a bird, such as the duck, goose, turkey, or pheasant, that is used as food or hunted as game.

I realized that after I posted the silly topic. (I always equate Fauna to the word Fawn <Thumping palm to forehead>) Anyway, I hope to get some shots of the wildbirds I do not know and post them to identify their type... What resources can you suggest to help identify the wildbirds? :book:

To begin with, I would post them on this forum. There are a lot of knowledgeable birders reading it. Then, once you get a name, I would enter that name in a search engine with images selected to verify what it is.

For beginners, the best book out right now is:
Birds of the Los Angeles Region (Regional Bird Books) by Kimball L. Garrett, Jon L. Dunn, and Bob Morse (Paperback - Oct 21, 2006)
$10.85 on Amazon

My absolute favorite bird i.d. book is the "National Geographic field guide to the birds of north America."
