Raccoons
« on: Feb 08, 08, 11:11:56 PM »
I've been getting quite the show in the last 30 minutes or so!  There is a 6 ft. cedar fence about 8 ft. away from the window in my computer room.  There is a motion detector light outside the window.  Several times in the last half hour, the light has gone on, and I've gotten up to see two large raccoons climbing the fence very easily, and walking across the top of it like the squirrels do.  Although the raccoons aren't as agile as the squirrels are, they sure are beautiful creatures, and fun to watch.

In the summer, I get a lot of chipmunks running around out there too.  And of course the birds.

I see raccoon tracks all the time in the snow, but don't often get to see the actual animals.  This, to me, is a real treat!     But I'm glad my tiny dog is curled up asleep in the house, and not outside.  I don't think she would be any match for a large raccoon!
Saving just one dog won't change the world... but surely it will change the world... for that ONE dog!

The wind is making the tree branches move, and therefore turns on that motion light.  But a few minutes ago, it was still, the lights came on, I looked out the window, and 2 large raccoons were climbing up the gate.  Perhaps the same 2 from my previous post?

Do I have cabin fever?  Do I need a life?    ;D    I just love our wildlife.

We discovered this afternoon that a raccoon made its way under our back deck. Not sure how long he/she has been under there but we need to shoo it away before I rebuild my fence that burned in the fire.  We don't want a confrontation with the dog as the little thing as already sniffed it out. Any suggestions?
