Coroner case 701105176 VN: On Thursday, July 28, 2011, at just after 6:00 PM, a 1989 Toyota pick-up truck traveling southbound along State Route 18 approximately seven miles south of Lucerne Valley, just before Camp Rock Rd., was observed to veer to the left, leave the roadway, and strike a large tree by the side of the road. Emergency services were called and a California Highway Patrol Aviation paramedic arrived at the scene and confirmed that the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Peter Michael Parks, a 62 year old resident of Big Bear City, was dead at the scene. He was not restrained by seatbelts. The incident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol. [07/29/11 0230 VN]

Coroner case # 701105160--On July 28, 2011, a 1991, red, Nissan pickup driven by Mitchell James Laid, age 26 from Cathedral City was traveling west bound on National Trails Highway about 1.2 miles west of Mountain Springs Road when he lost control of his vehicle which rolled over. Laid was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. He died at the scene. There were no witnesses to the collision however a passerby saw the wrecked pickup and called 911 at 5:05 am. The CHP is investigating the collision.[07282011 1105 GB]

If you are in an accident, take lots of pictures!  Video would be better.  I forgot that my phone could do that.

My bumper was hit while I was putting on chains in a big turn out.  The other driver gave me his info which I took a picture of with my cell.  I couldn't write it down because it was snowing too much and the conditions were so icy that I was afraid to stay in the turn out for much longer.

Later he wouldn't call his insurance company.  The insurance company wouldn't honor the claim until he talked to them.  They said my pictures of his info didn't count because I could have stolen his wallet to get the info. Great!  >:(

I should have taken a picture of him in his car and him with his ID.  My picture just of his car without him in it didn't count.

Fortunately, my insurance company talked him into calling his insurance company and the situation was handled after a month!
