If anyone out there is considering looking into becoming licensed, I can certainly vouch for Moe as an instructor!  He was the instructor of the General Class I took about 2-1/2 years ago, and thanks to his excellent tutelage, I passed the General Exam on my first try.  It's a little more challenging than the Technician stuff is, and I'm extremely challenged when it comes to electronics.  If I can do this, anyone can. 

Ham radio is such a valuable tool to have, when other communications fail, which seems to happen kinda too often up here.  Moe is very patient with questions, and explains things very well.  If any of you are considering getting your ham license, this is an excellent opportunity.  And right here in town!

Hand held Ham radios used for emergency communications run about $125 and allow licensed radio operators to find out details during phone & power outages, bad weather, road conditions, wildfires, earthquakes, etc.

The FCC test is a 35 question multiple choice and Morse Code is NO Longer required.

Moe is indeed an excellent instructor!     I took his class here in Wrightwood, when I was preparing to take the exam to upgrade my Ham license from Technician to General class.  I passed on the first try, thanks to his excellent explanations of a lot of things (besides a lot of on-line studying which he will explain, I'm sure). 

I highly encourage anyone who has been thinking about getting into the Ham world, to sign up for this class and go for it!  It's an extremely valuable tool to have in emergencies.  And, you don't have to have a lot of fancy equipment to reap the benefits of having a Ham license.  I got my Technician license a little over 5 years ago, and I still only have a little hand-held radio.  You can't talk overseas with it, but it sure works for the local stuff I use it for.
