The solution is simple! We all need to apply for Press Passes, so we can ignore the signs :)

(just kidding!)

just to lighten us up, Bob C,  here  you go, what are friends for anyway (has your pic too)

Oh thanks a lot, Chuck! I printed the thing, and tried to bust through the barricade with my iPhone cam. I was pulled out of the car, and proned out. I'm on my way to jail. Please send bail money!  #Press Lives Matter

Don't let them take you through the Blue Cut area.

The key word is rumor.
When the official word is put out we'll all know within minutes.

Hearing a rumor that was coming from I guess in front of the hardware store from fire crews that at noon they were going to let voluntary return with ID any thing on this?

I know how rumors go. I just had to pay for another night were I am staying. Because I don't what's going on.

Jim and Nolena, thank you so much for your input!  I too am frustrated at not being allowed back home yet.  I not only left my house, but my business!   Since the last mandatory evacuation I now live in a "Evacuation Prepared Mode".  Because of this, I was driving out with my Jeep fully loaded within 10 min. of evacuation notification.   Call me what you will, but as soon as I saw the smoke plume, I started staging stuff by the front door!  My cat has his own emergency "to go" bag, which includes a battery operated crate fan to keep his carrier cool.  He has some issues and I knew that this would be more difficult for him than animals that I evacuated with in the past.  I believe that half the stuff in my Jeep was for him!  This was his first time away from home, with the exception of annual vet visits and he is not dealing well at all.  I will be adding a pheromone diffuser and some kind of anxiety medication to his evacuation bag, something that I did not even think about before.  My heart goes out to those who were unable to get back home to take their pets with them.  That has always been one of my biggest fears.  I pray that everyone is safe!

I should have added, that although frustrated at not being allowed back home yet, I am staying put until it's safe to return!  I don't want to evacuate again anytime soon with a screaming cat!  He is now safe and cozy and taking refuge in the towel cupboard in my mom's bathroom!

Ok...such a curve ball here, but If I can get up to the Mtn High West Lot (and still blocked) would I be allowed to ride my bike into WW and attend to my home?
We came up N4 from the 138.  The officer at mthigh west said the same rumor posted earlier.  "Rumor Only, Noon today for residents with ID."

Like Wrightwood says, you'll get the official notice on here fast.

The officer also said you can walk past and go to Wrightwood. Not sure about biking.

We chose another alternative that I will take to my grave.....  :eyebrows:

SBSD - Headquarters
Advisory: Blue Cut Fire - Wrightwood RESIDENTS ONLY allowed to return home today at 12:00 verification required at Hwy138/Hwy2

Evacuations reduced to Voluntary in Wrightwood
Immediate Release
August 20, 2016 at 12:00pm

Effective Saturday, August 20th, at 12:00 p.m., the mandatory evacuation orders for the community of Wrightwood will be reduced to voluntary. RESIDENTS ONLY will be allowed past the road closure at Hwy 138 / Hwy 2 by providing verification of residency to personnel assigned at the road closure.

We appreciate all the people who evacuated the Wrightwood area. The Blue Cut Fire posed a real danger to residents living in these areas. Your safety remains our top concern.

We ask that residents returning to the evacuation zone exercise caution. Firefighters, engines, and heavy equipment continue to operate in the area. The San Bernardino County Sheriff will continue enhanced patrols through these areas with additional units.

The remaining mandatory evacuations will be lifted as soon as the danger to residents has been reduced.

provide verification of residency to personnel assigned at the road closure

You need to show something that has your street address and name on it. Tax bill - utility bill - etc.
Drivers License with a PO Box may not work.
