Anybody knows anything more than what I can see from my window up on top of Desert View?

I was wondering why a helicopter kept flying overhead. Now I know.  :o

5 - 7 acre fire in heavy fuels with a moderate rate of spread. It is near the area of Zermatt and Pacific Crest.

Resources have been dispatched for structure protection.

Yes, I've heard the chopper as well, which drove me to check the Forum.  Going overhead now, again. Please update. How close, How large. Thanks.

Very large Air Tanker on final for the Wrightwood fire.  Be advised that the aircraft can drop retardant that is extremely heavy and can flatten a car or truck if in the path of the drop.  Humans fare very poorly when hit with these drops.

Me too! I had visions of an escaped bad guy before I checked the Forum.

I sure hope everyone is staying out of their way.

Mandatory evacuations between Lone Pine and Easter Drive, per the radio feed just now.

I'm on summit. From my perspective looks very nearly knocked down. The very large tankers just fortified the southern flank, there's no fuel to the east and I only see white smoke coming out of the canyon to the north. Hand crews and bulldozer to the west between the fire and Pacific crest.

This forum is invaluable!  Thanks for the updates.  I am overseas at the moment and this is my only way to connect with back home.  Glad the VLATS and the hand crews got the fire under control (or at least I hope they did).

That was pretty amazing to watch. These folks know their work. I can't believe how quick all the pieces were in place and operational. Looks like mop up work now. Thanks to all the personnel that worked on this fire.

The Zermatt incident is approximately 7-9 acres. The area that burned is West of the Blue Cut dozer line and Pacific Crest/Chaumont Drive.
