It's amazing how this is a huge deal right at the start (it is), and then once they've got a fairly good handle on it, the information just goes away.

Seriously, it'd be nice if the news media would at least say "yeah, it's all over but mopping up."

Same for the ANF.

I made good use of the Bobcat Fire post for the links to Broadcastify, and FlightRadar24.  There was no air support yesterday, and listening to the fire radio, there was no need or desire.

So far, today is pretty quiet.

Using those sources seems to be the only way to tell things are winding down.

There was this Tweet from ANF yesterday...

Angeles National Forest @Angeles_NF

Update: #SpringsFire.  Mop-up ongoing.  Held to 54 acres.  Now 65% containment.  A big salute to our allied agencies,
@CAL_FIRE,  @LACOFD,  @LASDHQ, & so many others, for their quick response, can-do skills & outstanding support!!  Real-world Superheroes!

I can also see a fire south of Big Bear Lake on satellite weather imagery.

Edit: controlled burn.  Sure looks big though...

In the last 1/2 hour Tanker 131 flew over again.
Apparently they made some modifications/upgrades and doing test flights.

Wish they could stop the spread of traffic too.  There's another Sig Alert on the southbound 15 due to big rig fire - near Sierra I think.  It ain't pretty out there.

They really need to get around to cementing the hillside road cuts that keep catching fire in the pass due to vehicle related starts.
