Got it. Thanks, John.  A good reminder to all that the fire is not yet completely out. Take care.

Me and a few neighbors have been discussing going in on starlink dish, so that if an emergency happens in town we can just set it up and pay for a month of service. Plus having generators I feel like that would be good preparation for another event like this.

I have starlink and it works well.  They now have an RV version that is portable and you can start and stop membership as well.  Might be what you were looking for

I was told by a neighbor that Hwy 2 to 138 is closed due to another fire. Any factual basis to this info? Thanks.

The north American monsoon season has arrived earlier than usual, and we may get some rain and thunderstorms on 6-22-2022.  There might be a chance of mud and debris flows in the burn area during thunderstorms.

update on lightning-caused fires
Angeles National Forest update on lightning-caused fires:

As of late afternoon today, wildland firefighters at the Angeles National Forest had controlled three small lighting fires on the Angeles National Forest, specifically at Sulfur Springs, at Mt. Harvard near Henninger Flats, and west of Mt. Wilson. Los Angeles County Fire Department and Pasadena Fire Department assisted us on the Harvard Fire. We assisted Los Angeles County Fire Department and Los Angeles Fire Department on two additional fires.

Several additional small fires have been reported in/around the Angeles National Forest since late afternoon today.

Firefighters are focused on putting new fires out, monitoring areas that burned earlier today, and patrolling and responding to reports of smoke from the public.

AIR QUALITY ADVISORY: Updated July 23, 2022
Smoke from Oak Fire adversely impacting local air quality

UPDATED: July 23, 2022

MDAQMD has amended this advisory. Parts of the MDAQMD jurisdiction is experiencing wildfire smoke impacts, likely coming from the Oak Fire, which had already scorched nearly 7,000 acres in Mariposa County, north of Fresno, as of 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022. Air quality may be adversely affected at times, depending on fire activity,  firefighting efforts and weather conditions. Those experiencing smoke impacts may consider reducing exposure to minimize potential health impacts, especially those in sensitive groups including people with heart and respiratory illness, seniors, children and active adults.

Fire in the pass, just north of Devore on the north side of the 15. https://www.alertwildfire.org/region/orangecoca/?camera=Axis-SanSevaine1

It looks like it made a pretty big run up a hillside.  And here we sit, 30 minutes after the fire started (12:48pm) and the only aerial thing I can see is a single helicopter....in this weather.  Firefighting at it's best. ::)
