Landscaping Maintenance on State Route 2 in Wrightwood

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) alerts the public that a specialized contractor, AERI, will be conducting a contract for fuel reduction operations that will target relief of dense fuel stands, thinning of low-lying brush, and tree trimming of ladder fuels adjacent to the state right-of-way. Weather permitting.

This joint operation from AERI and Caltrans Corona Maintenance is set to provide defensible space along the state highway system to protect the effectiveness of ingress and egress for evacuation and emergency response during a fire event. Crews will also help improve the natural forest structure with a healthy tree density, a mix of tree species, heights, and age distribution, and natural gaps in the canopy while reducing competition and promoting a healthy multi-aged forest.

Crews will be conducting work from Tuesday, August 12th to Thursday, August 14th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This operation will require one-way flagging control from State Route 138 to Desert Front Road. Please reduce your speed when near work areas for the safety of crews and other drivers on the route. Signage will be placed ahead to indicate approaching roadway work.
