Does anybody have any tricks for getting sap off of cars? I just cleaned my car and there are patches of sap everywhere that I couldn't get off.

There's a product called "Lift Off" that is the best sap remover I've found.

Make sure to get type 2.

Home Depot carries it. Mountain Hardware carries Lift Off but not sure if they have type 2.

It comes in both spray bottles or small plastic containers.

So does mineral oil but then you have to wash off the oil...

The Serranos made a soap from ceanothus blossoms that removed pine tar.

Rubbing alcohol works very well and is CHEAP! I clean my 52 Willys Pick & the 47 CJ 2 A, up with a mixture of rubbing alcohol & bottled water 50-50 in a spray bottle as the local water is very harsh and I am supposed to be saving water. ( I know I am going to hear about my lawn, I have cut back & don't want it to die) I spray small areas at a time and do the entire vehicle that way. For the larger pine sap spots I put straight alcohol on a rag and let it sit on top of the sap for a few minutes before cleaning it off. It works best while cool, like very early morning.

Or you can just snuggle up with a pine tree and then roll around in some needles and save money on clothes.

As a new resident to the Wrightwood area I am experiencing for the first time, sap on my car. Does anyone have any suggestions for removing the sap without scratching my car's finish.

WD-40 is a solvent. Yes it works but I don't recommend using a solvent on paint if you want it to last.

Thanks ForestGal - My dog has some sap beneath her chin and I have been trying to get it out, didn't want to cut it. I'll give it a try.
