\Pine Martin crossing the road that goes up to Rock Creek Lake above Tom's Place. First one I've ever seen.
That's a Gray Fox. The easy way to identify them around here, since you only usually get a fleeting glimpse, is that they are usually similar in size/shape and have a similar tail length, albeit bushier, to a common cat. Your ring-tailed thing you guys have up there I think is similar in shape and size but has that unique tail.

ens look like ferrets/weasels - saw one on a pack trip in the Mammoth back country once. It was a small thing. A little turd of a child chased it away!
