The local bear has been tearing down a lot of bird feeders around town. Watch the small tree on the right and how the bear is frightened after he snaps the bird feeder from the tree.

Pine Martin crossing the road that goes up to Rock Creek Lake above Tom's Place.  First one I've ever seen.

Had to look it up as I never heard of 'em.

I know not what I know not, but are you sure? Legs look a bit long as does nose and tail longer and not as fluffy as the ones I saw on the internet.

I'm not sure at all.  That's what my friend said it was who lives up that way.  It seems to big to be a Pine Marten, perhaps it's a Fisher?

I saw one 25-30 years ago when I lived at the bottom of Cardinal.  It was running up the street - mid-morning!  Haven't seen one since - good catch!!  :2thumbsup:

That's a Gray Fox.  The easy way to identify them around here, since you only usually get a fleeting glimpse, is that they are usually similar in size/shape and have a similar tail length, albeit bushier, to a common cat.  Your ring-tailed thing you guys have up there I think is similar in shape and size but has that unique tail.

Pine Martens look like ferrets/weasels - saw one on a pack trip in the Mammoth back country once.  It was a small thing.  A little turd of a child chased it away!

A few months ago, I saw something like the Pine Marten in our neighbor's backyard! Thought it was a weasel. Are those Mountain Lions in your friend's Montana camera shot?

Pine Martens are in the weasel family.  Just like mink, river otter, wolverine, skunks, short tailed weasels, long tailed weasels, etc.
