Are those in the photo above coyotes, or wild dogs, or a mix?  They look so big for coyotes...

Those are my neighbors dogs, he calls them hybrid wolves.   They live a mile from me.  They are 2 miles from home when they're at the guzzler.  I don't like the idea of them running around chasing the wildlife, fortunately I only catch a picture of them once a month or so.  I've spoke with the neighbor he says they keep the mountain lions away.   We don't see eye to eye.

Oh thanks, I guess I missed the previous pictures of them.  Relieved to know the coyotes aren't that big around here!

I called animal control for the 7th time on my neighbors big dogs.  When they went to his home the dogs were not there and he said they were with his wife.  The fact is they were out roaming as usual.  Animal control gave him 24 hours to show lic, shots and that kind of stuff, but could do nothing more. He said he would have to catch the dogs off his property to cite him.

So now I'm building a 5ft by 6ft, 4ft high live trap.  My plan is to catch them on my property and turn them over to animal control.  As long animal control continues to cite & fine my neighbor I'll play the game for awhile.   I've filed a report 7 times over 18 months with animal control, funny thing was they only had my most recent complaint.

Any wild animals I catch will be released.

Feral dogs running together are more dangerous then a wild wolf.  They cause more serious injuries to horses and livestock in this area then any other reason.  There are many things I disagree with on the handling of wolves in the western states (like hunting back to extinction)  but some of the ranchers do have a good process that takes care of the problem with little fuss.

I hadn't been to this spring in 10 years.  Last time I was there it was dry.  It should be a great place for a wildlife camera.

Yes, it's very close to my place and it's above the older Anna Verde area (not to be confused with the new Anna Verde housing track on the West end of Ave S) A friend of mine who's great grandfather homsteaded the area from Vincent Hill to Anna Verde told me she can remember going to this sprng with her grandfather. They would have to occasionally dig it out to form a basin.  They had a pipe running from the spring down 3/4 of a mile to Barrel Springs and Tierra Subida where they used the water for drinking and an orchard.

This will give you an idea of the area.  You can see Palmdale Lake in this view looking NorthEast.

The spring is back in this tree.
