Injured Bird - Rescue

There is a Robin that I found that has a hurt wing (may be broken) and foot.  It might have fell out of a tree.  I dunno how that happens..to me that's like a fish that drowns... but I guess it could happen.  Anyway I have this bird that needs to be taken care of.  I captured it because it would have become coyote food otherwise and now I can't figure out how to get it the medical care it needs.  The vets are closed and the animal control told me that they would come and take it but because they don't have the resources to care for it, they would just put it to sleep.  I tried contacting the forest service but they said that they didn't know what to do with it.  I'm kinda concerned about it and dunno what to do.  I could use some advice if anyone has any... please?

In the past, when we have found baby birds or hurt birds, we have used duck feed pellets mixed with warm water to make a "mush" to feed them.  We used an infant medicine dropper to feed them and give them water.  That seems to work best for baby birds, though it has worked once or twice on adult birds.  The adults are just so traumatized that it doesn't usually end up ... in a happy ending.  We released many baby birds and have seen them returning to our feeder afterwards, though. 

It doesn't sound good with a possible broken wing.  Maybe there is a bird rescue, or a regional Audobon Society number you could call for advice.

Well, unfortunately, my roommate and daughter were checking on it and weren't as careful as they probably should have been.  The bird escaped and they can't get close enough to get it back.  We'll keep trying but it's not looking good.  Thanks for the info and thanks Nolena (I called her) for your good info.  If we get the bird back, we'll try it and see what we can do.

"Robins do not feed their babies a diet of 100% worms. The babies get a variety of insects and fruits as well. To mimic this diet in captivity, a rehabber feeds primarily mealworms (larvae of beetles, which can be purchased at bait shops, pet shops, some bird feeding shops, and at mail order places such as Grubco and Rainbow Mealworms. This diet is supplemented with earthworms, a baby cockatiel and parrot hand-feeding mixture available at petshops, and fruits and berries. In nature, the parent robins are constantly searching for food and feeding their babies during daylight hours. A baby robin should be fed as much as it can eat at least every half hour from sunrise to sunset. You can take a 2-3 hour break maybe once a day."

I found an injured blue jay in my home on Saturday.  He might have flown in during the day when a door was opened.  Perhaps he beat himself up trying to get out.  I don't know what happened.  We don't have a cat so I doubt that he was dragged in by anything.  I have kept him alive with an eye dropper and he does eat, but this bird can't move very well.  I don't know anything about birds really.  Can't tell you if he's broken anything, although I suspect he has.
Can anyone help or tell me where to take him for help?

Thanks for the responses.  I still have the bird but I can't figure out what is wrong.  He's (she?) not able to fly that's for sure.  On it's side most of the time or upside down.  I have tried to get some help but no one is close enough according to the wildlife society.  I have read online that I am not supposed to feed it if it's injured (which I have) but how will it get strong enough to get well if I don't feed it?  I left it in a box today while I was gone to LA and when I came home it was out and I was so sure it was dead.  But, it's still breathing and I don't know how to help the poor fella. Husband doesn't think it's wings are broken but the tail feather seems a bit loose.  I think it really hurt it's head.  Maybe broke it's neck.

I  have an injured raven.  It's a fledgling that has been hopping around a few days.  Parents have been feeding it but I found it in the driveway with blood and an injury.  Assuming it survives the night where can I take it?

I know there are some rescued birds at Devil's Punchbowl that cannot be released due to their injuries (I think owls and hawks).  If they can't take your bird, they may know who can.

That's a great idea but I was able to find someone in PH who rescues birds.
