firefightersteve posted a great Christmas Card featuring Wrightwood's Engine 101.
It made me realize that this year's Parade of Lights will be the last for Engine 101.
Wrightwood Parade of Lights 11-2006
Bottom of Lone Pine Canyon 11-2005
Engine 101 is the front line fire engine at Wrightwood Fire Station 101. Put in service in 1982, it has served Wrightwood faithfully ever since. Four wheel drive means it can go through sand, mud or snow. The water tank carries 500 gallons and the pump can move 1,225 gallons of water per minute. The engine also carries a full complement of rescue and medical gear. Engine 101 is staffed with a Captain, Engineer/Paramedic and Firefighter.
A replacement engine has been built and is currently being outfitted to replace the '82.

That is a pretty good service record!
What happens to the retired Engine?

More from 11-2005 at the bottom of LPC.
I'm sure Wildman can give us a good idea on what will happen to 'old' 101.

Engine101 will still serve as a Reserve Engine...hopefully right here in Wrightwood. The old Reserve, the 1974 Ward La France, was the first engine I ever got to drive. It still serves as a Reserve engine to this day.
