Radish, peas and sage leaves are turning yellow...
« on: Jul 21, 07, 09:31:11 PM »
Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can remedy it?  Thank you!

p.s.--I'm the type of person who might over-water plants, rather than under-water them...

It might be caused by over watering or you could have poor drainage and roots are sitting in water. I had a birch tree in a container that the leaves were turning yellow, so I kept watering it and then found out that the drain hole was clogged. Unfortunately, I did not find this out until the tree drowned and there was no saving it.

You don't say what they are planted in Storm.
If in our WW dirt (if that is what you can call it) then they may not be getting enough nutrients.  Water washes right through the very porous soil, and doesn't hang around long enough to feed the roots.  I have been using some Scott's timed release fertilizer for vegetables this year and have stopped the yellowing I have had every other year.  Timed release stops any chance of burn, and releases just a little nutrition each watering.  Actually this year I have tried watering my garden each day and am having MUCH better luck than I have had the last three years.
If they are in plastic pots, then it could be too much water, or again not enough nutrients.

Everything is planted in a mix of organic potting soil and bone meal...

Luckily the squirrels hauled off some of my yellowing plants this morning while I was out rockhounding... ::)
