CDF Fire Truck accident - Wrightwood California

A Calaveras County fire truck which was temporarily stationed in  Lucerne Valley responded to a fire in Lytle Creek on 8-11-02. The truck was traveling south on I15 a few hundred feet south of the Hwy138 overpass when the driver suddenly lost control. The truck was loaded with 500 gallons of water and a crew of 3 when it went suddenly went from the #1 lane over the 30 foot embankment. The CDF has grounded their fleet of trucks as the crashed truck only had 3600 miles on it. On 8-13-02 the demolished pieces were loaded on a truck and hauled to a secure CHP site for further investigation. The crew was reported to be recovering from the high speed crash.
