we call the area "Snowplay" and put a sign coming up the hill-

"Snowplay"  turn left 500 feet - FREE PARKING.

Then after they have waited to get in, if they don't want to pay the fee per kid, there's a "right turn only" sign on their way back out and shaboom, back down the hill they go...

When our parking expansion is complete it will help free up parking on St Hwy 2 for additional snow players and help improve actual traffic flow in the Big Pines area.

No it won't because Cal Trans has agreed to put no parking from East to West to keep traffic flowing thru the area.

Our proposed parking expansion would help elevate the current parking problem for our paying customers.

I hope Johnny meant alleviate the parking problem, but being from Mt. High, who knows?

Aren't some of you being a little hard on the Mountain High folks? I've heard some pretty harsh comments about them and I'm not sure they deserve all of it. They certainly can't control what happens beyond their parking lots with the snow players can they? We're there on Saturdays to volunteer and then whenever we can get up to ski and we've had nothing but pleasant experiences from the staff. Those of you who have complained about them, when is the last time you've gone skiing or boarding?

Does anybody really know what our liability is if someone gets hurt while snowplaying on our private property? Do the No Trespassing signs hold any legal sway? We're always worried about lawsuits, but I'm wondering if this is a valid concern.

When McDonalds can be successfully sued for serving hot coffee or a woman can win millions because she tripped over her own kid, then you can but we are at risk for being sued. Even if you win you still have big bucks in legal fees to pay.

O.K.  I'm going to go off topic and diatribe here for a minute  >:(

I agree that there are some really frivolous lawsuits out there and some ridiculous jury awards--but the McDonalds thing is a little more serious that it first sounds.  The woman who "spilled hot coffee in her lap and sued" had THIRD DEGREE BURNS TO HER GROIN AREA because the kid who reheated the coffee put it in the microwave for over two minutes.  It was literally boiling hot.  THAT is why there was an award for negligence.  It wasn't like she spilled hot coffee and had some red skin or even blisters for awhile.  She had to have skin grafts!

Now, back to your regular programming about wanking on snowplayers  ::) :P

Skin graphs are tissue taken from another part of the body to  fill in 3 degree burn holes from the hot coffee .  So not only did she have to recover from the orginal injury, she also had to recover from the donating skin grafts sites.  And since  nerve fibers are located there.  OUCH!

NOW BACK TO SNOWPLAYERS! ;)

My husband had to satisfy his sweet tooth so we ventured into town at about 4 o'clock.  To my amazement we had no trouble getting onto Highway 2 or getting out of Jensen's parking lot.  Did not see any snowplayers down by the highway or any of the side streets we traveled.  All of the streets we were on had all been plowed, Sheep Creek was open.  What more can you ask for.

Except for the snow in the driveway, which they're welcome to load in the back of their pickup and take home.

I haven't seen any playing around here, though I did see several families up for the day stopping at Jensens and Mountain Hardware. They may be playing closer to Mt. High. I was surprised, but I imagine people were bagging the trip because of the continued threat of storms. And rightly so
