There was also the matter of competence in that someone in Massachusetts decides if the money will be spent to improve the infrastructure and "let" customers again order service.
I didn't mean to denigrate the efforts of those who worked very hard to get VZ to fix a problem.

The best they would have done is add capacity and another DSLAM, we would have had mediocre DSL instead of awful DSL.

The wonderful thing about UIA is that they aren't in Massachusetts, they're right here.

More than anything else, that's why I expect it to be far beyond awesome.

It seems to me that Verizon halted new installs because they wanted to maintain the experience of the current customers on their DSL here.  This fact shows that Verizon wasn't completely uncaring about their customers in the area, as some comments here have suggested.  Certainly, Frontier doesn't seem to worry about signing up new customers, and look how the experience has taken a turn for the worse for customers in this area.

That being said, they obviously decided long ago to not upgrade any of their wired infrastructure.  I think they stopped caring about that part of their business when their cellular offerings began to take off and they realized that was a much easier and more profitable business.

I didn't mean to turn the thread to a discussion of Verizon (or Frontier).

Assuming everything else is constant, the demand for bandwidth is always going to go up, and the cost of bandwidth is always going to go down.

UIA should have little trouble keeping up.  It's much harder for DSL to do so.

Oh man I am starting to get excited now!

I can see the big spool of fiber hanging off the pole by the 2 and the wash. Also I can see it hanging off every pole driving into town from the 138.. It's coming... Just waiting for that date announcement  ;D

Contractors busy doing 200 pole survey for section 2.

Section 1 was 400 poles and completed during winter.

It is UIA.  HHS is our subcontractor.

We have put in several poles that had to be replaced, and now they are putting in the  wire between the poles.  Fiber goes in next.  Splicing.  Then installs.  Wes is waiting to make the announcement until the new web page goes in.  It is nearly complete.  Don't worry.  It's so close.....!

Is no one concerned with the little or poor communications from "Wes"?  Where's this "new web page"?  If they can't get a webpage up in 10 minutes how will the provide stellar connectivity to a community?  Don't mean to be a negative nelly; just calling out the obvious.  Section 2 anxiously waiting!

Wes and I have communicated and I can tell you that the process is moving forward with good speed.
This isn't an easy tasks with many hurdles to overcome. The target availability dates for Section 1 is right around the corner with other sections following up.

Is there a listing of what area is which section - just wondering because I haven't seen it so wondering if I missed it somewhere.  No problem with time frame honestly - we've had horrible service up here for SO long I am totally willing to be patient!

Unfortunately the www.wrightwood.net webpage is not working for many including our service through DSL Extreme.
By using a VPN or another service I can connect.

Here's screen capture of the Sections

We're all anxious.

I think this is a great example of something called "The 90 - 90 rule of project development."  It states that 90% of a project takes 90% of the allotted time.  The remaining 10% of a project takes 90% of the allotted time.

From the posts that have been made, I think UIA has everything poised, ready to go up the instant "the powers that be" say okay.

Until then, the web site can't really say much more than "coming soon" -- and the web site is up.

I can reach it through my phone just fine if I use AT&T's network.  It is not reachable through Frontier, or anyone who resells Frontier DSL (like DSL Extreme).  Hard to say, but I think it's a Frontier problem.

Months ago, one of the Zubers described the process like building a house.  Not much happens at the beginning while plans are being drawn, reviewed and permitted, then one day most of the walls are up and things move fast.

Like you, I want to see section 2 go up quickly -- because the sooner it's done, the sooner they can move to the next section.

I'm in section 5.

Hi, yes, sorry for the lack of communication.  There are many behind-the-scenes conversations / plans/ events  that take place and posting them is not all ways helpful.    There was also a website redesign and growth in our other areas of business Internet that have kept us delayed in making an announcement, but not progress on the Internet.  But July 11th we will launch the new website, which is complete, and allow signups.

Watch for this July 11th.
