I hadn't heard that.. that is bad. Verizon used to just prorate and cancel it on the same day.
FTR has actually made us long for the days Verizon! Good job FTR.
We cancelled my wife's POTS line and she had a credit, so we needed a refund.
A check was not offered, the only thing that was offered was a "gift card." It took 3 months.
The card was restricted so it had to be a purchase. It also carried a $3/month fee.
You could go to the card's website (this wasn't a Frontier "service") and activate the card. Then you could go back and set up an ACH to transfer the money to a checking account. You could not go to an ATM and draw the funds.
If you chose the ACH transfer, they told you that if you mistyped the account or routing number, your money was gone with no further recourse.
When we cancelled the DSL, I was very careful to make sure we owed them money.
