I don't know where it is... I have a 4 drawer file cabinet for all my manuals but I've never gotten to making file folders for my stuff... That will be done some day soon!


I'm now thinking about getting a base scanner for my computer room... This list keeps getting longer... Better start looking for a job  ::)

Yes, but you have to use the yellow battery holder.

Argh!  Burbank just went total "Digital" two days ago.  My Pro97 has been rendered useless as far the the Zero Bank goes, with the exception of Verdugo Fire and some other freqs.

I'll now HAVE to invest in a $500 digital scanner.  I guess I'll be able to keep the digital here in Burbank and take the Pro97 when in Wrightwood.

Is the WW Forum Live Scanner off-line?  We've been trying to access it for the past couple of days, and it refuses to link up.  Also the temperature indication is not current, but the time indication seems to be.

Inquiring minds would like to know!

Johnny-on-the-spot determined that it was an updated virus protection that was installed 2 days ago. It activated a software firewall that was not needed and blocked incoming requests.

BostonBob doesn't need to listen to the "Online" Scanner as he has his own Pro97 with all my frequencies in it.   ;D

BTW, for those of you that have cloned Bob's scanner:

Bank 5 has most the Wrightwood area freqs you'll want to listen to, while Bank 3 has ALL the CDF, USFS, NIFC, BLM, etc. freqs you'll need if there is a big fire.

I have those banks turned off so it only scans 3 and 5.  ;)

Well the frequencies aren't bogus, but you won't be able to understand anything.  Digital sounds like aliens talking to each other (Not that I know what aliens sound like...  repressing memories of alien obduction in a cornfield in Nebraska 1984 ....)   ;D

Outside of the ICIS frequencies programed into Bank "0", all the other Verdugo Fire and aircraft freqs still work, though it is rumored that Verdugo Fire is also going to ICIS this year. Digital?  Perhaps.

The problem is I just can't go out and spend $500 on a new Digital Trunking Scanner without giving Kim $500 also to spend on whatever she wants.  That way I don't get any flak for buying more "toys".   See?  In 30 years of marriage, I've learned something.    ;D 

Now about the new HAM radio... "But Kim, it's not a toy, but could save my life when I'm in the back country..."  I'm still working on the best excuse for getting a scanner AND a new HAM radio.

(BTW, Banks 1 and 2 can still be valuable.   Bank 1 is good to go for L.A. City Fire and Bank 2 is good to go for L.A. County fire.)

Well that might work on me  ;D  Especially if I needed something shiney for my finger (its not a toy its an investment!)
