That is what I thought.

Yeah, the Direct TV football package is awsome!

How about cell phone service?  Does the altitude affect performance?

There is a reason why Direct TV is #1 in customer service.

A very good friend of mine is a contractor for Direct TV installations.  If they cannot make an installation appointment promised to the customer, they MUST call that customer and let them know that they will be a little late.  If that customer calls and complains to Direct TV, the contractor will lose all the jobs that were scheduled for the next day.  This translates into thousands of dollars worth of penalties for the contractor, for not keeping a customer happy.

Again, satellite is the only way to go for TV reception.  On the other hand, if you're interested in High Speed internet connections, cable exceeds satellite.

I have been with DISH for years and couldn't live without it. It paid for itself the first year over Falcon's pricey price. They have well-trained personnel at the 800 number 24/7. I purchased a fancy receiver, used ,a couple of years back with no manual.  Learning how to use it has been  the only help I've required. I can put my program on "hold" and record it if the phone rings, on its hard drive. AND a whole buncha other great stuff. It even changes the channel for me. I've got New York and LA networks, so I watch prime time and Jay Leno before 9:30. 1-800-333-DISH

WOW!  Can we get this policy started at VERIZON?  Have you ever had to deal with so many bad attitudes and foul ups?  Is is just me?  I LOATHE VERIZON!    Get out the string and the tin can....  Oh.  LOVE DirectTV with TiVo..... cannot imagine TV without either of those now.  RadioShack has great DirectTV deals... we got DirectTV FREE through them... the install and the equipment, I mean.  That was about a year ago.  Give them a call..... TiVo RULES!!!

We have DirecTV and its alright. the position our house is in we probably would have been better off with DISH cuz when its windy we have no signal. THe DISH positioning would have given us a clear shot. Too late now. Other than that its worked out pretty good.

For cell service we have Verizon and I get a strong signal throughout town and out of town. No problems hiking with it, etc.  I keep being told that i'm picking up some signal from 138/2 but when I'm near there I get no signal. So I dunno - - - eventually we should have good signal from most companies from that new tower in our valley.

The DISH signals are much easier for installers to lock into.

The quality of the picture from Direct far surpasses that of the Dish Network. (side by side comparison on the same TV)

I'm staying with cable because we have 5 televisions in our home and at least 3 are on at the same time.  Plus, the additional charge per TV that I've been quoted is outrageous.

With the way TVs are today if you dont want any of the special channels you dont need a cable box unless the cable co. has gone digital mine has not changed yet so the three TVs i have now dont use a box. But when that happens i guess i will go to a Dish.   Question with  Direst or Dish when you move you can take it with you and reinstall it at the new place?

Call before doing anything.... Many of these places want their equipment left in place so they can take over the market.  If you move they may offer to just re-install new equipment wherever it is you are moving to... and just leave their set-up intact.... then they won't have to come out, re-install for the next family, etc.  If everyone did this sooner or later every home would have installed equipment and they could just sell you the service.  CALL FIRST.

I know DirecTv offered that to us - they wanted to give us new equipment on our new house and leave the old stuff there. DISH did this with our friends just now too - they came out and put up new stuff the day they moved into their new house with no extra charge. So maybe this is regular practice now.

I know of two people that moved and had no problem, they moved their equipment to their new homes since the Dish and Box is owned by you (at least I know mine is), you can take it anywhere. You just have to stand on solid ground when notifying your server because, yes, they will try and sell you a new set up or get you to upgrade, but that's part of doing business with any company these days.

THey are not trying to sell more equipment.... They are hoping to just install it at each site ONE TIME and then just sell the service to whoever lives there....

Of course if you bought it you can take the equipment with you when you move.... but then chances are THEY will have to install it AGAIN wherever you end up.... and the costs of installing the equipment timewise adds up to a lot of money.

Just call before taking your equipment off the roof so you don't chance doing all the work for nothing...
