You know, I don't know the type of Rose that is other then red.  They were here when we got here.  It does bloom well.

Winter is definately here and I'm hoping for more snow then rain.  This photo is JC, one of our Draft horses, standing in a snow storm last winter.  The horses frequently don't come in out of the cold or rain but just stand in the elements.  With their thick fur coats, it must be too warm in their enclosures.

One of the series of Snow Hummingbird shots I got one day last year.  We had a number of them winter over.  This year, we still have several buzzing around.

Our Quail are year round residents.  This Gambrel Quail male is hanging out after feeding.

Several winters before we moved into our current home, one of the serious of snow falls was exceptional.  Our cabin had a propensity to build ice cycles and this storm was a good example.  I normally would get out there and knock these things down but hadn't for some reason.  Found this as I was transferring stuff to my new 24"  IMAC.  Put it on while waiting for the XMAS puppy to quit crying after being let out.

I am always amazed at how much snow can fall in Wrightwood.  (and how many are night owls on the forum)

 ;)

That's a beautiful icicle shot!  What kind of puppy?  I LOVE puppies!!!

Can't be sure....it was a Stater's puppy.  We were told Rottweiller and Blood Hound.  Now isn't that a combination for a ranch dog!

Thanks.  The puppy is.....well a puppy!

I've been a part of the dark side since I bought the first Mac in 1984 with no hard drive....just two floppy discs.  I ended up working for Apple for 3 years as a consultant helping create their State and Local Government Marketing channel.
I still have my first MAC II with a 40 MB hard drive.  It was a dream come true....travel around the country evangelizing the Mac to cops and firefighters.  Remember.....IBM stands for "I wished I'd bought a Macintosh" or "I've Been Misled"! ;D

This White Capped Sparrow is looking for something to eat.

This male Gambrel Quail was singing his heart out.  Looking for new girlfriends, no doubt.

Yeah, about that... I'm no expert, but seems to me Rottie & Bloodhound would be a much darker puppy? Either way he looks very thoughtful, I bet he's very smart. In any case, I think a puppy in the house make a joyful house, keeps you laughing, and keeps you young, messes aside, jmho. Those pics need a frame!!! I think you're committed to posting follow ups   :2thumbsup:

Wow, we go back about the same. I had an Apple IIe, then got the Mac II when it first came out. Oh, the color!!! I've still got mine, too - got any ideas what to do with it before I finally take it to the Mac old age home in sky?

As for your job with Apple - wow! I can't believe you lived to tell about that one and the boys didn't stuff you in a locker!   ;D

We'll never know the exact breeding until she grows up some.

One thing is for sure, Coyote just casually walked across the back hill this afternoon and thought that she simply looked like lunch.  This is our regular, daily visitor who will eat just about anything, including chickens if the opportunity arises.  We've watched Coyote bouncing mice...eating seeds....digging up bugs and chewing on a left over carrot down at the horse corrals.  Very healthy looking and acting.

He's tolerating her and teaching her manners.

There was a waiting line at the pond today for bathing.

This shot was taken on the Owens River at dawn.  I love the Wild Rose bushes.

From the Archives:  Highway 2 can be beautiful (and deadly if you are going Westbound) right around sunset.  This shot is around the trailer park and looking to the West just after the sun went below the horizon.

Sunrise and Sunset On The Same Day
Sunrise at our place is always different and always beautiful.  We face Mountain Top and any kind of clouds act as a reflection surface for the rising sun.  We don't get as many good sunsets because there are seldom clouds to the West in the evening.  Here is the sunrise:

And here is the sunset....both on the same day.

Also, I am close to finalizing my first commercial venture...Screen savers using my photographs of animals and birds.  I have five different versions lined out so far and am now working on the technical side to insure they will work on all formats.

Sketchy the Cat has been enjoying the warm sunshine and today found her dozing in her favorite outside chair where she enjoys views of the whole valley.
