The  TV helicopters are on the Southside of the fire (up wind) so you can see the flame. They are not showing the Northside of the fire (down wind) because of the smoke covering the view. There where several Aircraft including the DC10 dropping earlier on the southside and west side to keep the fire from cresting and going into Lytle Creek. The aircraft might be on the north side trying to slow it down.

Scandalous, shameful lack of information for this fire, especially when compared to Sheep Fire.  No map, only vague, piecemeal descriptions of where the fire is.

Please update ways to get out of town. Can I go 2 to 138 or have to go other way? Is there a shelter in Palmdale or Lancaster that I can go to with my dogs?

A friend called me about 10 minutes ago with the info that she was able to take 2 to 138 and head west.

Just watched KABC Channel 7 reporting from the 138 & Hess Road.  The fire has moved along the 138 as well as up into the canyons and along the ridges possibly into WW. . Not good. So we will remain on alert here.  Stay safe everyone.  cheryl o7o

Would think that would be on the news.

this is the best source:

http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4962/

in response to someone's aggravation at so little information, remember this fire just started at around 10:30 this morning, one of the fastest moving I have ever seen, it usually takes a day for them to get us maps and stuff, so be patient and get the heck out of there!

Please err on the side of caution and be safe.

McDonalds looks fine, must have been something else you saw.
